Microsoft fined at EUR 899 million

The European Commission today announced a further fine of EUR 899 million for Microsoft.

The Commission states that Microsoft has failed to comply with all the penalties and will therefore have to pay a fine of EUR 899 million.

The sanctions were established in 2004 after the European Commission initiated proceedings against Microsoft and won in court. Microsoft was then obliged to pay EUR 497 million in fines and meet certain conditions.

The European Commission also stated that Microsoft was the first company not to comply with the agreement and therefore decided to impose a new fine.
