Silverlight 3 in 2009

According to Scott Guthrie of Microsoft .NET Developer Division, the final version of Silverlight 2.0 has been downloaded and installed on more than 100 million computers in the last 4 weeks. "What's next?" you say? Silverlight 3, of course.

In Guthrie's recent post he says a little bit about the new version:

"Silverlight 3.0 will include major enhancements in the multimedia part (including support for H.264) video, in the graphics part (support for 3D and hardware acceleration via GPU) and in application development support (including additional controls).

Note that this is just a small sample of the improvements – we have several and interesting additional features that we will not yet disclose. Next year, Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer Express will also support a complete and interactive designer for Silverlight and will have a tool to support data binding. "

The next version should arrive in 2009, but the roadmap has not yet been released by Microsoft.
