Haswell-E: Intel announces new octa-core processor with DDR4 support

Intel announced last week the new processor based on the Haswell-E platform, supported by the new X99 chipset and compatible with new DDR4 memory modules.
The new processor will have eight cores and 16 threads. Remembering that AMD has had 8-core processors for a while, but their performance never came close to Intel's quad-core. This makes Intel no competition for end-user, so we can't expect anything above the new Haswell-E.
As previously stated, the new Intel processor will be supported by the X99 chipset and LGA 2011 socket. Rumors point out that in order not to stay behind the current X79 chipset, X99 will have native support to 10 6 Gb/s SATA ports, 14 USB ports (six 3.0) and RAM frequently up to 2,133 MHz, which can increase with time, as we are at the beginning of the new memory cycle. According to Samsung, the average frequency was increased to 2,667 MHz, with energy consumption optimization of up to 30%.
Intel has not yet announced prices and the release date, but it has advanced that the new processor line should be available from the second half of this year.
