The messenger WhatsApp has invested a lot in the news presented. In recent months we have seen the release of WhatsApp Web, which allows the use of the app in browsers and we also follow the arrival of voice calls in Android apps.
This time the novelty is the possibility of backup of messages in your Google Drive account. The functionality, as in most cases, starts being released to Android smartphone users at this first moment. But quiet there, the app available in the Play Store is still in version 2.12.44 and we're talking about the next update. The version of application number 2.12.45 can be found in Apk Mirror.
After downloading and installing, just go to WhatsApp settings, within "Chat Settings > Chat Backup", where you will be able to see the last backup done and Google Drive data.
Backup frequency options can be chosen by the user, as well as the backup mode whether it will be via WiFi, 3G or both. You can backup manually by clicking the "Backup now" button, process that may take a while if the amount of media received is large.
