23 Million downloads are the maximum hit (so far) by version 3 of FireFox. Meanwhile the Mozilla Foundation is already working on developing version 3.1 of Fire Fox that will be based on the Gecko 1.9.1 engine, thus allowing a lighter but very functional interface.

According to Mozilla, the first Beta "public" version is due to appear in August, while the final version is due to appear at the end of the year, or later in the first quarter of 2009.
