USB 3.1 can be fitted on both sides

In 2013, there was already information about a USB 3.0 replacement. The new connector would have a reduced size, allowing the manufacture of thinner devices and, in addition, the shape of the connector would be reversible, i.e., it would fit both sides. Certainly would avoid that frustration of looking for the right side of connecting the USB.
Time passed and today we had the first of what would be USB 3.1. The new standard is quite similar to micro-USB, present on most current smartphones. In addition to the connector fitting in anyway, the cable is identical on both ends, unlike what happens today, where one tip is micro-USB and the other original USB. You can see the design of USB 3.1 on the render below, released by Foxconn.

It is worth remembering that the pattern may undergo some changes until the actual release, but it is known that it will not be compatible with the current devices, so prepare for an update. There is information that new cables with this standard have a higher efficiency for electric power and a data transfer rate of up to 10Gbs, which can increase with time.
According to TheVerge, the USB Promoter Group should publish the specifications of the new cable in July, which is when manufacturers should launch the first batch on the market.
