As a means of further dissemination of your operating system, Microsoft announced today, April 2, on Build 2014, that Windows will be free for devices up to 9 inches, i.e. smartphones and tablets.
With this measure, manufacturers are exempted from paying for licences, which cost about U$ 50.00 (Windows 8.1), to install the operating system on your devices. According to Microsoft, the great reason is that the company intends to compete directly with free systems such as Chrome OS and Android.
The free Windows version already has a name: Windows for Internet of Things (Windows for the Internet of Things) or simply "Windows IoT". The system should also include an essential application package and a year of Office 365.
There is no information on when this novelty comes into force.
