Update: Uncle Ballmer has no morals. Moments after his statement, held in Belgium, someone from Microsoft spoke at the company headquarters in Redmond, and said the schedule for the end of XP sales is unchanged (source). Everything, you see...
Does anyone in there doubt that the bald guy next door is crazy? For those who do not know him, a brief explanation: his name is Steve Ballmer, friend of former Bill Gates, current CEO of Microsoft, and owner of some unfortunate and inconsequential phrases. The last one was released today. Here's the thing.
"XP will hit an end-of-life. We have announced one. If customer feedback variants we can always wake up smarter but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP ships. "
For those who do not understand English bubbles, he basically says that one day the Windows XP cycle will end, that Microsoft has chosen a date for this (30 June), but that if consumers think differently, the company may reconsider that decision.
Like where Ballmer's been the last two years?
His justification is that, however, the consumer does not want XP. Revendores, according to Ballmer, sell more PCs with Vista than with XP, and among consumers the preference for the latest version of Windows also exists. He also said that the preference for XP exists only in a corporate environment, because companies need to work with outdated hardware and therefore unable to run Vista satisfactorily.
Okay.
