Facial recognition is not a new technology, but it has reached a surprising level of functionality in the last few days. Based on it, Facebook announced the Moments app.
The operation is basic: the application scans the image library and, with facial recognition, links the photos according to your friends. If your friend has the app, the photo goes straight to his collection. If it does not have, a message with a download link of the application is sent by the messenger.
The premise of the service is to facilitate the sharing of photos with your friends. We often take photos that have never seen daylight, are forgotten in smartphone albums or cloud backup. It's these photos that should be shared with your friends in case they show up on them.

The collections are based on the date the photos were taken, location or by people who appear in the photo. All organized.
The app is available for Android and iOS, but the service has not yet arrived in Brazil. There is still no information on when it will be officially released here, but according to Facebook "the team is working to make it available as soon as possible in other countries".
