We live in a world where technology is moving forward. Computers released four years ago are already more than obsolete, smartphones as well. The rhythm is intense, the novelties come in large quantities and it is not difficult to stay behind in this technological race.
These days we do things on the phone that were unimaginable until a few years. We access our bank accounts, make payments, purchase, communicate with our friends, etc. And one of the questions that echoes the most is: When did we become so dependent on our electronic devices?
The truth is, we are very dependent on our own. gadgets. We have a phone that not only makes calls, a computer that not only serves for college jobs and a player that not only serves to listen to music. All our devices have a few more functions than those originally intended for it. An example of this is iPod Touch, Apple player who, in addition to playing their songs and videos, accesses the internet and gives you the option to install hundreds of apps available in AppStore.
However, in this constant evolution of electronic devices, we have a function orphan: The tablet. Do you know what one is for? Obviously many people have already assigned dozens of uses to their devices, but does it have a primary function? A boss car? And the biggest question of all: Do I need a tablet?
Tablets
Tablet, in a simple explanation, is nothing more than a touch screen clipboard. There are several sizes, capabilities and brands. They popularized in mid-2010 when Apple announced the first iPad. Yes, there were tablets before iPad, even Microsoft tried to ply a year earlier, but without success.
The initial premise of the tablets was to replace the notebooks. But the limitations were so many that no one (or almost nobody) actually replaced their laptops, using the tablet only as a faster alternative to browsing and reading emails. The works of editing texts and more specific things continued in charge of computers.
Time has passed and tablets have gained a large market share and nowadays they are used to read books, access the internet, edit texts, take pictures, listen to music, watch videos and even play. There are numerous functions present in this little clipboard.
Currently tablets share market with two main systems: iOS, present on Apple iPads, and Google Android, which is a free system, is installed on various brands and models.
What are the advantages of having a tablet?
- A tablet weighs much less than a notebook and takes up less space;
- You can replace that stack of books you carry in your backpack with a tablet, provided the books are available in digital format;
- You can create and view text documents, spreadsheets, images and access the internet;
- You can make quick notes as reminders, either in class or at work;
What are the disadvantages?
- Editing files and typing texts is still uncomfortable on a tablet;
- Some tablets only connect on the internet via WiFi, that is, without WiFi = No internet;
- Many good apps are not free;
- You cannot install conventional software that sometimes are requirements of your work or college course;
- Depending on the screen size and resolution, reading can be tiring;
Do I need one?
