A Microsoft is preparing a new venture into the business of Yahoo, this time to those related to the searches online, reiterates the Wall Street Journal.
To this end, it sought the support of some media companies to support it in this venture, including the Time Warner and News Corp., with the aim of associating the AOL search channel or even the MySpace social network with Yahoo engine.
Sources close to the negotiations indicated that they were preliminary and that they are unlikely to result in an agreement with Yahoo. However, two weeks ago, Steve Ballmer summoned Yahoo's Roy Bostock to a meeting where a possible participation of other partners would be discussed in a new acquisition bet.
Microsoft's proposal joins a series of attempts to purchase already failed Yahoo. Both companies have been increasingly pressured to reach an agreement but, as a result of the latest movements, the union is far from happening.
In January, Microsoft submitted an unsolicited offer to Yahoo. The PAO was eventually withdrawn by Yahoo's surrenders, which ruled out the possibility of acquisition by believing that the value offered devalued the company.
While studying strategies to resume the approach to Yahoo, Microsoft acts on other fronts, with the same objective of strengthening its presence in the online advertising market, associated with research services. Proof of this is the confirmation of a rumor that had been circulating for several days and that gave the company's intention to acquire Powerset as certain. Yesterday at the end of the day Microsoft confirmed the interest and reported the purchase of the American research company, which reinforces the Live Search service.
