Microsoft plans to present three new mobile services at Mobile World Congress (MWC). The company presented the Windows Azure platform last October and will expand its software + services platform with various new products.
According to Microsoft-related sources, the company has been working on the products known as SkyBox, SkyLine and SkyMarket. Final versions should have their names based on Windows Live.
SkyBox – SkyBox is a service that allows users to sync information from their phones to the web. Microsoft will offer automatic backup and restoration services, access and management of phone data, as well as easy communication and sharing with other users. The service will also allow synchronization of contacts, email/SMS, calendar items and photos in a similar way to Apple's MobileMe.
SkyLine – this service will be returned to small businesses. With features similar to SkyBox, companies will be able to configure their phones with Exchange using their own domain names.
SkyMarket – this is the codename for Microsoft mobile marketplace, a competitor for Apple AppStore and RIM Blackberry application center. This service will only be available on Windows Mobile-based devices.
Microsoft should also present Windows Mobile 6.5 during MWC. The images below are concepts of the new "honeycomb" menu.
